DepEd Tarlac Province wins Central Luzon POPQUIZ Championship

The Division of Tarlac Province regain its PopQuiz Championship title last November 22, 2018 in Fortunato F. Halili National Agricultural School, Guyong, Sta. Maria, Bulacan.

Precious Joise Deaser, Grade 10 student of Tarlac National High School from the Division of Tarlac Province was declared Champion after she bested 19 other contestants from the different divisions of Central Luzon by garnering a score of 20 points. She will represent Region III - Central Luzon in the National Population Quiz to be held on January 28 - February 1, 2019 in Dagupan City and is looking to bring home the fourth PopQuiz Championship for Tarlac Province.

Coming in second by garnering a score of 13 points was the Division of Gapan City as represented by Ella May B. Antonio of Sta. Cruz National High School while third was from the Division of Bulacan as represented by Jayvie D.G. Dela Cruz of Salapungan National High School by garnering a total score of 9 points.

Coinciding with the conduct of PopQuiz was the Regional Festival of Talents wherein four on-the-spot contests were held, namely: Debate and Jingle Writing & Singing for Junior and Senior High School students; and Kasaysayan, Heograpiya at Kultura ng Pilipinas Contest and Poster Making for Elementary School pupils. The works of the students centered on theme "Celebrating Diversity Through the Performance of Talents and Skills for Inclusive Education" to focus on valuing diverse talents and skills of our youth.

The Population Quiz and On-the-Spot Skills Exhibition is an annual event jointly conducted by the Commission on Population and Department of Education as one of the major strategies under the Adolescent Health and Youth Development Progam which aims to reach out to in-school youth by raising their awareness on population issues that create a major impact to the lives of young people.
